Travis' drumming as always stands out, and Halford's voice is still superb as he has mastered how to use it at this stage of his career...but this time more emphasis on songwriting and arrangement...get the deluxe version - "Vicious Circle" is my favorite Priest song since "Night Crawler" or "Touch of Evil" (online articles note Tipton plays the solo on it as well).

This album is a mix of Screaming for Vengeance, Defenders, Turbo, and Painkiller. Rob is amazing with his high vocals still even at his age. While I’m not sure what they were doing with The Lodger the rest of the album amazing. JP killed it on this one. Way to go JP!!! This album IS heavy duty!

Sounds just like they did when they first started! Really enjoy this band. My parents got me into them, and I’m about to 30 in June.
  • Missing the priest guitar sound

It’s ok at best, but what’s missing is the duel guitar sounds of kk and Tipton. I’ve been a fan since 81 and have noticed this missing in the last couple releases. And the classic JP leads are no longer there as well. JPs songs were catchy with great choruses and leads and you would have them in your head and want to hear them again, unfortunately this is no longer the case. Just listen to defenders of the faith, or any older albums and it’s obvious missing now. Crown of thorns is probably the most priest sounding song on the album, the rest is just mediocre and not the priest I know and love 🙁

Thank God there is no long boring songs like Iron Maiden does. There is no need to write boring plodding ego bass songs and this album proves that. Way to go JP! 🤘

If you put Turbo, Painkiller, and Ram It Down in a blender, this is what you get! Rob still hitting high notes even though they are not as high as in the past. Lots of legendary vocalists don't sound as good as they once did. Love this album front to back!
