Lacking Content

I love Olly Murs’ music, but this album needed to cook in the oven a lot longer. Most of the songs are about having a wild night out that might get him in trouble. It’s almost like he decided to make several versions of “Save Me,” but they decided to put them all on the album. The album cover clearly depicts what you would expect from the album. On their own, a lot of the songs are good, but it’s difficult to put the album on repeat when every song is essentially about the same thing. This album doesn’t have a lot of Easter eggs about his actual life. I think that was purposeful to keep his music and his relationship separate, but it lacks the depth of previous albums because of that. I think Olly should have mapped out better what stories he was going to talk about on this album. The content lacks variety. It’s definitely not a bad album, and it’s clear effort was had, but it’s also not great or his best. It’s just average.
