Not a huge fan of his solo stuff and more of a Verve Guy, but saw promise in his first cd (New York) and this tune. If you had listened to or purchased the Verve's last cd, I think his songwriting has grown and feel it will spin off to this next cd. Go Richard- you rock!

Finally, a solo record is on the horizon! After an amazing Verve record, there is nothing better than another solo album. Richard Ashcroft is the defenition of artistry. The song "The Journey" is modern day with a hint of classic Ashcroft sound. I cannot wait until new meterial is released!

This single as well as Love is Noise and Rather Be are, in my opinion, the most relevant music created in the last decade, socially and musically speaking. Musically because of the fusion of beatle/bob dylan-esque songwriting and hip hop/rap influences done in a way 1,000 times more melodic and intruiging than radiohead. Socially because he addresses the apathetic/negative/pleasure seeking thinking that develops in people of our times because of the media and a ford assembly line type education. IN MY OPINION.
