As Vanden Plas matures, their music just gets better. Clearly their most cohesive album. From start to finish, it is a tour of what progressive metal is and should be. My soft side might be showing, but Misery Affection might be the best ballad ever recorded. The exquisite poignant agony of eternal loneliness coupled with a brief moment of love couldn't be better expressed melodically or lyrically than it is here. A must listen for any inquisitive music afficianado.

This is a must buy for any fan of Vanden Plas, Progressive Metal, or Progressive Rock. While this release has less metal, it does have so much more in the form of variety. Yes it has the heavy metal, but you get a theme oriented album with slow moving passages, stellar vocals, and amazing musicianship. Both Misery Affection tracks mix in female vocals as a duet, and they really break up the hard hitting parts of the album. Like the previous release Seraphic Clockwork, this is another must get album. I am new to Vanden Plas, and everything I have heard feels like they can do no wrong.

I had never heard Vanden Plas before, but kept hearing so much buzz about this album and I checked them out. I can see what the fuss was all about. These guys are amazing. Prog Metal is my favorite genre (Dream Theater, Voyager, Anubis Gate etc...), and I'm proud to this band is now in that collection. This is also a concept album, which I also love. But great Vocals, excellent riffs, and just well crafted songs that really fit the story line. They collaborated with German author Wolfgang Hohlbein and they based this album concept on his series "The Chronicle Of The Immortals"

This album reminds me so much of their concept album Christo. In fact, Siberiean Echo: great job finding Vanden Plas - now make sure you get Christo, which seems to be missing from Itunes right now. You will be so happy have these two albums to dive in too! The guitars have a that sparkly studio sheen, and big sizzling chorus crunch. The vocals are soaring and melodic. The tempos are interesting and bring thoughts of adventure and mystery. This music is really wonderful, there is so much to enjoy. Vanden Plas are not only musicians, they are artists :)

Vanden Plas are at it again with a very well-made album! One of the best, if not the best, vocals around! Great stuff!

Absolutely SUPERB in every facet of Power symphonic Metal. This is such an incredible album with so many different elements. An incredible singer who runs chills up your body in many ways. I have all VP albums but this hasn't got a filler in the bunch as neither do the others. Worth every penny. A more than 5 star buy
  • Another great album from VP

What a great under-rate (or more specifically not known enough) band. After a month of listening to this album non-stop. Stop ready reviews. Just Buy the album it’s just amazing.

Vanden Plas without a doubt are at there best when a concept is the center point of there creativity. Chronicles acheives a level of mastery along the lines of both Sepheric Clockwork and Christ-O. IMO- Vanden Plas are leaders in the metal progressive genre and all listeners will be in awe of such prolific work- Vanden Plas rules!
  • Love it!

I’ve never listened to Vanden Plas before, but now it’s one of my favorites. This is truly a fantastic album, and I recommend buying the whole thing. The songs all fit so well together. It has both heavy guitars and more traditional guitars, and acoustic guitars, so it is really varied. The keyboards are great throughout and are some of the best of I’ve heard in awhile. Some of the songs are a lot slower than others, and usually build up, while others are fast throughout. It feels a bit like Nightwish I think with its symphonic elements.
